In case you somehow live under several rocks and missed it, the United States finally has a new president in Joe Biden.

Today really was truly a spectacular day, with Donald Trump leaving the White House to return back to Florida, and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris being sworn in as President and Vice-President of the US, respectively. And the event, despite Trump being petty and deciding to not attend his successor’s inauguration, was a still a star-studded and meme-ripe affair.

Between Joe Biden’s massive bible, Jennifer Lopez sneaking a bit of ‘Let’s Get Loud’ into her performance, Lady Gaga looking like she was plucked straight out of The Hunger Games, and everyone wondering where the hell Barron Trump is, it truly was a great day for memes.

First up, as expected, Bernie Sanders became a meme once again. Rocking up to the inauguration ceremony wearing not only the exact same jacket from his “I Am Once Again Asking” meme, but also a pair of knitted mittens, Sanders sitting away socially-distanced from everyone was one of the most notable and relatable moments of the day.

But beyond the odd photo of Sanders, people couldn’t help but laugh at how totally fed up the politician looked to be with the whole affair. Exuding a real “I GUESS I’ll swing by if I HAVE to” energy, Bernie Sanders’ indifferent attitude also became its own topic of discussion, too.

Another notable moment was the musical performances by, and general attendance of, both Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

Singing a medley of ‘This Land Is Your Land’ and ‘America the Beautiful’, Jennifer Lopez became a meme after she decided to give the songs an impromptu remix much to everyone’s surprise.

This is because at the end of her medley, J.Lo randomly decided to belt out a little bit of ‘Let’s Get Loud’ after she ruined every racist’s day by speaking Spanish for a few lines. Roughly translated, J.Lo basically said, “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” but I’m sure MAGA supporters didn’t really care what the words were and were just hurt that it wasn’t English.

When it came to Lady Gaga no one really seemed to care about her performance of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ because everyone was just focused on what the singer was wearing.

Looking like she was taken right out of District 1 in The Hunger Games, Lady Gaga wore a fuck-off giant Mockingjay-esque gold brooch of a dove carrying an olive branch for her inauguration day performance. But the day prior she was channeling a real Star Wars’ energy with her Princess Leia buns, prompting many jokes to be made about Gaga’s iconic outfit choices in recent days.

The question on everyone’s lips, however, was where the hell was Barron, Donald Trump’s son who hasn’t been seen in months?

The 14 year old wasn’t on the helicopter with his parents when they left the White House yesterday, nor was he seen on the tarmac with his siblings when Trump delivered his last speech as president.

So it’s only natural that some are now speculating that Barron’s going to get himself into a real Home Alone situation when he realises his family has left the place they’ve lived for the last four years.

Of course, people also poked fun at Joe Biden’s comically large Bible, the alleged “very generous letter” that Trump left for the new president in the White House, Michelle Obama just generally looking iconic, and Melania Trump being absolutely done with her First Lady duties, too.
