No Time To Die, the new James Bond outing and final film to feature Daniel Craig in the central role, has had a roller-coaster 18 months.

The film was one of the first blockbusters to suffer as a result of the coronavirus pandemic — its release date was pushed back a full year. Over that time, we’ve had dribs and drabs of plot details leak out, but for the most part, we still don’t know much about what the movie has to offer.

The new trailer, which is the last ahead of the film’s November 11 release date, keeps things similarly mysterious. There’s the return of Christoph Waltz as Blofeld, one of the most infamous characters in Bond’s back catalogue. There’s Lea Seydoux as Madeleine Swann, the elusive love interest to Craig’s 00 Agent. There’s Ben Whishaw back as Q, complaining in his particularly British way about Bond ruining the peace. And there’s Rami Malek, expert scary dude, as a villain hellbent on making the world “tidier”.

But exactly what Malek’s nefarious plot is remains to be seen. The stakes, nonetheless, appear extremely high — the new trailer is jam-packed with explosions, ominous voiceover, and promises that things will be more serious than they ever have been before.

That’s to be expected, given that Craig is bowing out of the franchise that turned him into an international superstar. The man deserves a proper send-off, and bringing back both his foes and his friends is the natural way to go.

No Time To Die was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who is better known for his arthouse fare. He’s the man behind Beasts of No Nation, an extraordinary Netflix Original that balances humanity with horror. From the trailer, it seems like Fukunaga has brought the big guns: the film drips with neon, filled to the brim with striking imagery.

Basically, November 11 can’t come fast enough. Watch the trailer in full here:
