The internet is a weird place. One day, you’re posting a picture of your chicken parmigiana to your popular Facebook page, the next you’re having to fight off waves of comments about said parmy.

At least, that’s how it goes if you are monumentally successful rapper Illy, who unknowingly started a meal with nothing more than a photo of himself tucking into some grub.

The whole debacle went down over the long weekend, after Illy posted a pic of a pub lunch to Facebook with the accompanying tag “FUCKEN BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.” Simple, right? But nothing is simple, least of all when eating chicken that anemic.

See, internet commenters quickly decided that Illy’s grub wasn’t up to scratch and began pouring into his comments with their thoughts.

“OMG what is that?” read one comment. “That looks like it could still have a heartbeat, to be fair,” read another.

“Looks like boiled chicken,” one concerned fan wrote. “Wow wtf is that,” said another, cutting straight to the chase.

The post got flooded by hundreds and hundreds of comments, all concerned with the dire state of the parmy. Indeed, the comments got so overwhelming that Illy was forced to respond himself.

“Hello thank you for your concerns RE: the food on my plate,” the rapper wrote. “To avoid the debate I’m going to refer to it by its full name, and yes, it is in fact a Chicken W. Parmigiana. The W is for ‘Went into the first night after lockdown without a booking anywhere and turns out the entire city had the same idea, so I took what I could get.”

Just goes to show, you never know what’s going to happen when you post something on the internet. Boiled white slices of chicken, beware. You can listen to Illy’s ‘Parmas In June’ right over here — we promise it’s way better cooked than whatever that is up there.
