Please Enjoy Hugh Grant Shutting Down His Trolls By Posting His Own Mugshot
Hugh Grant: truly the King of Twitter.
Over the last few years, Hugh Grant has morphed into an admirable Twitter shitposter.
Of course, that’s not to say he’s swapped his job on the big screen for one on mobile screens. He’s still starring in fantastic movies — chief among them Paddington 2, which he absolutely owns, and which is the kindest, purest work of art made this decade or any other. It’s just to say that, as the world’s gotten a little scarier, Grant has gotten a little tougher online.
Yep, instead of following the lead of his celebrity mates and keeping his political opinions to himself, Grant has spent the last few years using his digital presence to call out the bullshit of the world for what it is.
And in the process, he’s produced some all-time great zingers.
Take a look, for instance, at his demand that young people register to vote, couched in a criticism of his own back catalogue:
Young people – today is your last chance. Register to vote or I will make another enchanting romantic comedy. #registertovote TACTICALLY.

Or his firm belief that English conservatives are “creepy as fuck”:
Creepy as fuck. Vote for anyone, anyone at all except the Tories. https://t.co/fV54BI1DTQ

In the process of fighting for the moral good, Grant has put himself in the cross-hairs of a number of Twitter trolls. Clearly jealous of his ability to fire off great Tweets, these trolls have tried to hurt Grant by bringing up the time that he was arrested in 1995 for soliciting the services of a sex worker, Estella Marie Thompson.
There’s nothing about that to be ashamed of, and the Notting Hill actor clearly isn’t ashamed of it. So, he decided to get a headstart on the hate, and post the mugshot from the arrest himself.
To my dear trolls. Hope this is helpful. Now you have more time to spend with mummy. pic.twitter.com/FbbyC286cZ

In the words of British director Edgar Wright — Hugh Grant is fireproof.
