Hottest 100 Of The Decade Memes Are Taking Off, And They’re Incredible
The winner of the Hottest 100 of the Decade: Memes.

The Hottest 100 of the Decade is fast approaching — voting opened this week, and results will be announced in mid-March.
That’s stressful. Compiling a list of the ten best songs of the year is work enough. Compiling a list of the same number of songs culled from ten times as much time is even tougher. So, to deal with a draining task entirely of our own collective making, triple j superfans are turning to the only form of comfort there is: memes.
Making A Hottest 100 Of The Decade List Is Hard
Most of the memes currently doing the rounds online are designed to deal with the sheer enormity of the task ahead of us all.
Me: gonna start putting together my Hottest 100 of the decade list. Pretty confident it won’t take long
Also me, after putting 12 songs on my shortlist from the ‘A’ list alone: …ah fuck

But some, including the many posted in Facebook groups like the beloved Sultanaposting, have been designed to root for a particular song, or to predict which one might win.

The Dark Horse: Pendulum’s Remix of The ABC News Theme
In fact, over the last few days, a new type of meme has emerged from these groups, designed to spread awareness about the Pendulum remix of the classic ABC news theme. The track gives the classic news sting a new life and colour, and has become a dark horse favourite to take out an important spot in the eventual list. Cast your eyes over the memes designed to spruik it:

Honestly the national anthem should just be Pendulum’s remix of the ABC News theme, and we silently rave hard for two minutes.

Only time will tell if these memes are enough to push it over the line.
Even triple j is Getting Involved
Not content to leave all of the memes and tomfoolery to triple j superfans, the radio station itself has gotten involved, tweeting out a number of jokes from the official account. For instance, there’s this one, a throwback meme seemingly designed to stoke the debate over the wild #Tay4Hottest100 campaign:

And then there’s this one, based on a recent Bernie Sanders meme that has been doing the rounds:
