Stop the clock, close your browser: voting for the Hottest 100 of 2020 has officially closed. The vote portal locked down a short time ago, and so now begins the furious tally count before the results are revealed this Saturday, January 23.

According to triple j, this year will be one of the closest on record. Last Friday morning, fewer than 350 votes separated the tracks at #1 and #2, meaning that the last few days of voting would have crucial to determine the winner.

It hasn’t been that close since 2007, when Muse pipped Silverchair at the post to take out #1 with ‘Knights Of Cydonia’.

We have some idea of what tracks we’ll be seeing at the top: vote aggregator Warm Tunas has been diligently doing its thing over the last month, carving out a predicted countdown from votes posted online.

It’s been fairly solid throughout the voting period — when it starting gathering data a bit over a month ago, Spacey Jane’s dreamy ‘Booster Seat’ was at #1, followed by tracks like Glass Animals’ ‘Heat Waves’ and Eves Karydas’ ‘Complicated’.

Now, with voting closed, ‘Heat Waves’ is comfortably sitting at #1, followed by Ball Park Music’s plucky ‘Cherub’ and ‘Booster Seat’. Flume and Toro y Moi’s ‘The Difference’ comes in at #4, while G Flip’s ‘Hyperfine’ rounds out the top five.

Have a scroll through the predictions below — the Hottest 100 will kick off at midday on triple j this Saturday, January 23.
