After the Hunter Valley leg of Australia’s Wine Machine festival was evacuated due to severe weather this weekend, headliner Hot Dub Time Machine has announced two free shows for any punters who were disappointed his set was cancelled.

The 11,000 person festival was stopped during the middle of The Presets’ performance due to torrential rain and dangerous lightning. As we reported yesterday, the festival’s Facebook event was subsequently inundated with (many deleted) comments criticising its handling of the evacuation, excessive force from security and police, and a series of issues throughout the day, including hour-long lines for bars and having falsely advertised that punters would be able to buy wine by the bottle.

Subsequently, the festival — co-founded by Hot Dub Time Machine, and currently in its fifth year — apologised, and promised a free make-up performance from Hot Dub Time Machine.

Today, the DJ announced not one but two make-up shows for the Hunter Valley’s punters this April, with one at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and one at Newcastle’s Exhibition Centre on April 11 and 12, respectively.

“That storm was extremely frightening and I’m just thankful no one was seriously injured,” Hot Tub wrote in a statement (via Music Feeds).

“I am very pleased to announce that Wine Machine will be throwing 2 free full Hot Dub shows to make up for the missed set on Saturday. Wine Machine and I both have so much love for the Hunter region thanks to all the support over the years, so we wanted to make it up to you with this small token of our appreciation.”

Details on registering for tickets have been sent to the emails of those who bought Wine Machine tickets. Wine Machine continues this weekend in Western Australia, with stops in Victoria and the ACT in respective weeks.
