We weren’t expecting it, but we’re glad it’s here: the first trailer for Hocus Pocus 2 has arrived.

As you undoubtedly know, in the 1993 original Hocus Pocus movie, teenager Max (Omri Katz) makes the mistake of summoning a chaotic coven of witches — Winifred (Bette Midler), Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker), and Mary (Kathy Najimy) — who proceed to cause otherworldly chaos in the town of Salem.

For some reason, the original was very focused on the fact that Max, the 15-year-old who conjured the iconic trio, was a a virgin — something that critics have since pointed out was actually really weird.

But alas! The gals are back, and hopefully, no virgin plot line will ensue. “It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge,” reads the new film’s official synopsis.

“Now it is up to three high school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.”

Alongside Midler, Najimy, and Parker, who we look forward to seeing re-unite in all their witchy glory — the sequel will also star Sam Richardson (Veep), Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), and Whitney Peak (Gossip Girl).
