Picture the scene: you are a Harry Styles megafan who has been obsessed with the star for most of your young life. Also, it’s the middle of an international pandemic, meaning you’re barely leaving the house.

But one day, you decide to venture out. Why not, hey? You have to live a little, even during such uncertain times. And then, when you return home from your brief jaunt, your father sits you down, looks you in the eye, and tells you who popped around to feed your goldfish and sign your vinyl.

Harry Styles himself.

That’s the both agonising and uplifting experience that a Styles devotee named Theodora reportedly experienced earlier this week after Styles’ car broke down in front of her house. Venturing into the nearby home, Styles pottered about the place, leaving notes for his young fan, feeding her goldfish — one named after him, no less — and assuring her dad that he would properly meet her — eventually.

“Theadora, my car broke down on your street and your dad’s friend kindly let me wait at your house with a cup of tea,” Styles scribbled on one of Theodora’s vinyl records. “I’m devastated that we missed each other. Looking forward to meeting soon. Treat people with kindness.”

Theadora first broke the story herself on her private Instagram, though it wasn’t until the story got picked up on Twitter that it really went viral.

Styles himself hasn’t actually confirmed the story yet, and the only evidence we currently have is a picture of Harry in some excellent pants pouring food into a goldfish bowl. And what incredible evidence is that?

Also, it does seems precisely the kind of thing Styles would do. After all, this is a man who has spent his entire solo career spreading a message of kindness and acceptance. Wouldn’t he be just the guy to extend that acceptance to goldfish?
