The Marvel Cinematic Universe is a remarkable achievement; a rich narrative tapestry that spans more than a decades worth of films and contains literally hundreds of characters. And yes, that means it can sometimes be a little hard to keep track of everything that’s going on. Still, you’d think if you actually  appeared in the movies, you’d probably remember it. Not so with Gwyneth Paltrow, though, who genuinely forgot she had a scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming until she was reminded by one of her costars.

Paltrow recently appeared on the first episode of The Chef Show, Netflix’s new cooking series hosted by Jon Favreau. Favreau directed the first two Iron Man films and also plays Tony Stark’s driver, Happy Hogan. He and Paltrow have shared the screen on a number of occasions, including a scene at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Look, I’ll prove it to you.

Only thing is, I guess no one told Paltrow that scene was for a Spider-Man film? That, or she just straight up forgot shooting it. Because when Favreau brings it up while she’s zesting an orange, she has no idea what he’s talking about.

“Remember we were on Spider-Man?” Favreau asks her.

“We weren’t in Spider-Man,” she replies confidently.

“Yes we… yes we were,” he says, confused. “You were in Spider-Man.

“No,” she insists. “I was in Avengers.”

“No you were in Spider-Man also,” he tells her. “Remember at the end, and Tom Holland’s there, and you’re gonna walk out and do a press conference? That was Spider-Man.

“That was Spider-Man?” she asks. “Oh my God.”

Truly astounding.

The next Spider-Man movie, Far From Home, hits cinemas in July. I don’t think Gwyneth Paltrow is in it, but even if she is she probably won’t notice.
