Grimes Says That Her Son X Æ A-Xii Calls Her ‘Claire’ Instead Of Mum

In an unexpected — yet somehow completely unsurprising — twist, Grimes has revealed that her 16-month-old son X Æ A-Xii, formerly known as X Æ A-12, calls her Claire. Not mama, not mum, not mother dearest — just Claire.

Grimes, whose full name is Claire Boucher, shared this insightful peek into family life with Elon Musk in a new interview with Vogue.

While getting ready for last week’s Met Gala, Grimes spoke about motherhood and her complicated relationship with the word ‘mother’.

“Being a mother feels weird to say, for some reason. I don’t identify with that word,” Grimes told Vogue. “It’s also really weird because X… he says Claire, but he doesn’t say mama, like maybe he can sense my distaste for the word mother.” Sadly, there were no updates on what baby X Æ A-Xii calls Elon, so that will have to be left to your imagination.

In the interview, Grimes also shared where she would like to spend her final days and — spoiler alert — it is not on planet Earth.

“I am hoping to die on Mars, that would be my goal,” she told Vogue. “I would like to go to Mars, but I probably wouldn’t go to space until I’m like, 50.”

Grimes also shared that she’s in the process of completing a new album, revealing that she finished the final song just two days before the Met Gala. “I think it is by far my greatest work that I’ve ever done,” she said.
