I get the feeling Flavor Flav hasn't read the news lately.

Rap legend Flavor Flav has released a video message wishing Cardinal George Pell a “happy retirement”, and I don’t know about you but I have a funny feeling that Flav hasn’t been keeping up with current events.

The Public Enemy rapper released the minute-long video via Cameo, an app that lets members of the public buy personalised messages from celebrities. Apparently, someone named Tristan paid for the shout out, which comes less than 48 hours after Pell’s conviction on five counts of child sexual abuse was made public.

“This message goes out to George Pell,” shouts the (presumably) oblivious rapper. “Yo George Pell, I just gotta say: happy retirement, my man, you know what I’m saying, for real.”

Oh, and it gets worse.

“I know you ran the boys choir man,” says Flav. “All of the boys on the choir respected you, you know what I’m saying, and collected you, you know what I’m saying.”

Yeah, I don’t think it’s us who doesn’t know what you’re saying, Flav.

“Once again, happy retirement,” he adds. “Thank you for being a huge fan.

Pell is appealing his conviction, and has already received public support from the likes of Andrew Bolt, Miranda Devine and former Prime Minister John Howard. And uh, Flavor Flav, I guess.
