A couple of weeks back, we got our first look at Gang of Youths’ MTV Unplugged debut with a stunning and stripped-back version of ‘Let Me Down Easy‘.

Now, the show’s aired, the band have released their first live recording from the performance at Melbourne’s Cobblestone Pavilion back in July.

Here, the band rebuilt ‘Still Unbeaten Life’, one of the tracks from their 2016 mini-album, Let Me Be Clear. They stick pretty close to the original recording, but make it that little bit more magnificent with the help of a string section, and a whole lot of horns. Watch it below (or listen on Spotify), and prepare to weep.

Speaking to Music Junkee recently, MTV’s Vice President and Head Of Asia Pacific Simon Bates confirmed that the Australian brand of Unplugged is here to stay.

“It’s a long term initiative,” Bates says. “At the moment, we’ve already locked down three years worth of shows. We’re going to be working and booking artists for 2019 at the moment, we’ll do 12 over three years.”

Just yesterday, we got our first glimpse of Amy Shark’s upcoming go on Unplugged with a special cover of Wheatus’ ‘Teenage Dirtbag’.
