The final episode of Game of Thrones was so bizarre — so resolutely left-field — that it might feel like the thing that was genuinely impossible to predict.

Spoilers follow for Game of Thrones season eight.

After all, one of the major criticisms lobbed at the show’s final season was that it moved so fast and sacrificed character development so carelessly, that nothing made sense even to the most resolute of fans.

Daenerys Targaryen became a villain and a Mad Queen in about half a second, Jaime decided to abandon the love of his life and return to his vicious sister for uh, reasons, and Bran took to the metaphorical Iron Throne despite being literally absent from the show for an entire season.

Predicting all of that would rather be like predicting the exact breakdown of Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff‘s 12th birthday party.

And yet, if anything, that should only make you more impressed by what you’re about to watch, which is actress and all-around greatest person alive Gwendoline Christie successfully predicting the finale years ago after her and her co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau were asked to guess who might ascend to the Iron Throne.

“But don’t you think it’s going to be someone out of left field?” Christie asks, after Coster-Waldau guesses that it’ll either be the Night King or Daenerys who come out on top.

“Don’t you feel like those seem like the obvious choices and what we know about the show is that it constantly surprises you? So I’m wondering if it might be Bran.”

Of course, it’s always possible that this is less a ‘predicting the future’ scenario, and more a ‘David Benioff and D.B. Weiss watched this interview and decided that Christie was onto something’ scenario.

In which case, Gwendoline, we love you, but please don’t ever do anything like this again.
