Thor: Ragnarok, the highly anticipated third instalment of the muscly Thor franchise, has just dropped a suite of gorgeously colourful photos from the set. Entertainment Weekly has given us a first glimpse of Jeff Goldblum, Chris Hemsworth, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson and Tom Hiddleston, looking distinctively neon, in comparison to the usual trend of dark and gritty superhero films.

Thor: Ragnarok takes place on the distant planet of Sakaar, and features Thor in a gladiatorial contest against Mark Ruffalo, presumably as The Hulk. Directed by New Zealander Taika Waititi, who also did the wonderful Hunt for the Wilderpeoplethe colourful costumes sported by Jeff Goldblum’s character ‘The Grandmaster’ seem to be indicative of a real mood change for the series.

“Taika has such a quirky, left-of-field sense of humour, which forced all the characters and the tone of the whole story to head in a new direction. Each day we were like, ‘Are we pushing it too far? Are we allowed to have this much fun?'” says Chris Hemsworth, who plays the titular god of thunder himself.

Also, Thor got a haircut — I’m unsure if this is a key plot point, but I’m entirely here for it.

Thor: Ragnarok is in cinemas from October 26.
