"I am humbled to have my voice rocking in the highest offices of the Australian Government!"

A day after Scott Morrison was roundly roasted for using a Fatman Scoop song in a cringeworthy meme, the American rapper has invited the Prime Minister to a music festival where they can “discuss politics”. And no, that’s not a sentence I thought I’d ever have to write, but life comes at you fast.

In case you missed it, Morrison was the subject of ridicule on Friday after someone in his office posted a brief video to his social accounts of Liberal MPs raising their hands in Question Time edited to the tune of Fatman Scoop’s ‘Be Faithful’. The video was later deleted, with Morrison tweeting “the full lyrics of the song used in my earlier video from QT today were just not OK”.

Those lyrics, in case you were wondering, include the line “who fuckin’ tonight?” like six times. So yeah, bit of a weird fit.

But while most of us thought the whole thing was kind of embarrassing, Fatman Scoop said he was “humbled” to have his voice “rocking in the highest offices of the Australian Government”.

“I just don’t know why they took it down!” Scoop wrote on Instagram late on Friday. “My man @bboyjimo said because there was CURSING in the song and he has to be Politically Correct! People! Its a fun PARTY SONG that has no NEGATIVITY or HARM in it!! This used to be the same way (politically correct) that presidents were in the USA but as u can see the bar for a US President being politically correct is VERY LOW!”

“I also thought it was an attempt to reach out to a younger audience. As well as the fact that when my song was really ROCKING Scott was probably in the CLUBS! Hahahahaha!”

Fatman Scoop then proceeded to invite Morrison to be his guest at RNB Fridays Live in November “to watch, dance, and after in the backstage area discuss politics with me”.

“I don’t have to agree with your policies but we can have spirited DEBATE about them and you can attempt to walk me through why you think like that,” he wrote. “So someone tag @scottmorrisonmp up and tell him I’m waiting for him to accept my invite!”

Morrison has since responded to Scoop’s invitation, posting on Instagram that he was “definitely keen”.

RNB Fridays Live is coming to Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane and Sydney in November. The lineup includes Fatman Scoop, Usher, T-Pain, Salt N Pepa and, uh, ScoMo, I guess.
