Buy and sell platforms have always been a pretty… weird place.

Just like with Depop, it can be pretty tricky whenever people have the opportunity to communicate a sale directly. After all, it is harder to convey tone over text and, well, not everyone is on the same level of comprehension.

This was exactly the case for a guy selling his microphone to a man named Salvador in Fairview, California. After the pair negotiated a fair price down from the $100 list price, they tried to set a time to meet. That’s when it all went wrong.

Happy with the new price of $75, Salvador tried to organise a time to exchange his cash for the microphone. “I can do it before 11,” the seller wrote, trying to find a time that fit around his work schedule. “Around 3 maybe,” the buyer responded.

“I have work from 12-7,” the seller explained. “Pm,” he further clarified. The buyer, who clearly didn’t understand that 12pm meant noon and not midnight, asked: “Are you available at 3pm?”

“I work from 12pm-7pm,” the seller reiterated. “So 3 it is?,” the buyer tried to confirm. “I can’t do 3pm because I’ll be at work from 12pm to 7pm,” the seller patiently wrote.

“Do you mean you work 12AM to 7AM? 3pm is earlier then 7,” the buyer asked, still clearly clueless about how time works.

“Yes it is, but I will be at work, working, from 12pm to 7pm so I will be physically unable to meet with you to sell you the microphone,” the seller ended the conversation. “Because I will be at work at 3pm.”

Facebook Marketplace Is A Very Cooked Place

Twitter user @kuyajosho came across the exhausting conversation on Facebook and decided to share it. “I found this on Facebook and idk what to say,” he captioned the now-viral tweet.

The post, which was a screenshot from the app OfferUp, inspired people to start sharing their experiences with selling on Facebook Marketplace, a platform just as draining and confusing. One person used the opportunity to demonstrate the difficulty with people who message even though they aren’t interested in buying.

On the flip side, this person showed the terrifying reality of when someone is too interested in an item.

And this woman shared how hard it is when the buyer is more interested in the seller than the item itself .

One of the biggest issues when it comes to buying online are the incomprehensible messages which make the whole process a struggle.

But sometimes the opposite route of using the least possible amount of words makes everything 100 times worse.

It wasn’t only sellers who shared their Marketplace struggles. One man uploaded an screenshot of time he played dumb with someone trying to sell UFC tickets. Despite the game already being over, Ken begged for William to take $70 for the expired ticket.

Another woman used the opportunity to share her experience with the worst negotiation of all time.

But while a lot of these bonkers Marketplace conversations happen because of clueless buyers, sometimes the sellers are responsible for everything going wrong.
