The New Josh Thomas Show ‘Everything’s Gonna Be Okay’ Is Coming To Stan
It's a heartfelt look at a man being forced into adulthood, and it looks amazing.
Josh Thomas is one of the most exciting comedians in Australia — so the prospect of his new show, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay, should be a cause for genuine excitement.
After all, Please Like Me eventually evolved into one of the most humane and beautiful sitcoms of recent years. Eventually sidestepping easy punchlines and quick gags altogether, that program morphed into a heartfelt and empathetic look at what happens to people when the world starts to overwhelm them.
Everything’s Gonna Be Okay follows a similar formula. Following a neurotic young man (played by Thomas himself, of course) who becomes the unwitting guardian to a young half-sister after the death of his father, it’s a blend of tragedy, comedy and keenly observed humanity.
It’s also Thomas’ first show shot and set in the US. Could this be the program that launches the comedian into the stratosphere, and finally gets him some proper international acclaim? Here’s to hoping.
Excitingly, Everything’s Gonna Be Okay has been fast-tracked in Australia, meaning that we’ll get it at the same time as the Americans. Episodes will drop weekly from January 17 onwards on Stan.
