Emily Blunt is America’s most exciting action star. This is no longer up for debate.

After all, Blunt turned in the action performance of the decade with her role in the time-bending sci-fi Edge of Tomorrow (you know, that one where Tom Cruise dies a whole bunch of times.) Add to that her extremely nuanced and impressive performance in A Quiet Place, the horror blockbuster directed by her husband, John Krasinski, and it’s clear that Blunt is the new face of Hollywood’s action cinema movement.

In fact, that’s the entire selling point of the new trailer for Jungle Cruise, a film that sees Blunt play an intrepid explorer who journeys off to a far-away land in search of missing treasure.

Aiding her along the journey is Dwayne Johnson, The Rock himself, doing a very capable Indiana Jones impression while looking like he has consumed an entire ocean worth of raw salmon protein.

But hey, we’re not here for Johnson, who has been doing his relaxed, screwball brand of action hero-ing for some time now. No. We’re here for Blunt, who starts the trailer by making a grand escape out of a window with the help of a ladder, and ends it coming to blows with a man who appears to be made entirely out of jungle vines and snakes.

And hey, best of all, the film is based on a theme park ride, a genre that has a weirdly good pedigree. After all, lest ye forget, the extremely popular Pirates of the Caribbean franchise began its life as a rickety ride.

Guess we’ll find out if Jungle Cruise lives up to expectations when it drops on July 24, 2020. Till then, why not take this opportunity to go back through Emily Blunt’s entire filmography. You won’t regret it.
