Please Enjoy Elon Musk Getting Laughed At While Explaining The Pronunciation Of ‘X Æ A-12’
Elon Musk tried to explain how to pronounce his baby's name. It didn't go so well.
Immediately after the birth of a child, most fathers hang around a bit, checking in to see if their partners need anything. But not Elon Musk. Elon Musk decided instead to go on the Joe Rogan Experience.
This is because Elon Musk is insufferable, and has been at literally ever stage of this latest round of tabloid nonsense. First, he and his partner, the musician Grimes, announced that their child would be named ‘X Æ A-12’. Then, when Grimes provided an explanation of the meaning behind that name, Musk publicly corrected her. And now, high on his own supply, the Tesla CEO has bungled his way through a typically awkward interview with podcast host and personality Joe Rogan.
The interview is pretty difficult to watch. Not because of Rogan, who is a skilled and talented interviewer with a vast range of background knowledge and a keen eye for interesting tangents. Nope. The fault lies entirely in the lap of Musk, who sat there, slack-jawed, and tried to provide a pronunciation guide for his child’s name.
It didn’t go well.
To the sound of Rogan’s rising snickers — and eventual outright guffaws — Musk explained that the X is just pronounced, well ‘x’, while the ‘AE’ is pronounced “ash”.
So if you want to drop X Æ A-12 into conversation, the way to do it is to say, “Ehks Ash Ay-Twelve”.
Or you could just never bring up Musk and his attention-grabbing nonsense ever again. Either works.
Anyway, watch the delightfully unhinged moment from the podcast in full here:
