One of Elon Musk‘s teenagers has formally requested to have her name changed — stating she no longer wants to be associated with her space guy father.

According to court documents that are available to view online, Musk’s daughter requested to change her gender from male to female. According to US tabloids, she’s also looking to change her name to Vivian Jenna Wilson — with Wilson being her mother Justine Musk’s maiden name.

The teenager, who turned 18 in April, indicates in the court documents that she wishes to change her name because of “gender identity, and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape, or form”. Understandable.

Canadian author Justine Musk was married to Elon from 2000 to 2008, and the two share five children. In a 2010 article penned for Marie Claire, Justine revealed disturbing details about her marriage with the Tesla founder, recalling that Elon said “I am the alpha in this relationship” as the two danced at their wedding reception.

She also says that he would regularly criticise her in the relationship, making comments like: “If you were my employee, I’d fire you.” She added that Elon would also push her to colour her hair blonde, at one point suggesting she “go platinum,” aiding in her realisation that she had become a “trophy wife”.

After the two divorced, Musk married British actress Talulah Riley and of course, had a recent unexpected relationship with Canadian musician Grimes, with whom he has two kids — X Æ A-Xii and Exa Dark Sideræl.

Elon has expressed transphobic sentiments in the past, declaring in a resurfaced 2020 tweet that “pronouns suck”, to which Grimes replied, “I love you but please turn off your phone or give me a dall [sic]”. Her reply has since been deleted.
