Dua Lipa has strongly responded to ‘Levitating’ collaborator DaBaby’s recent homophobic and frankly fucked-up comments, stating she “stands 100 percent with the LGBTQ community.”

DaBaby was performing at Rolling Loud festival in Miami over the weekend when he invited the audience to “put your cell phone light up” unless they were a gay man who “sucked dick in the parking lot,” or had “showed up with HIV/AIDS…that will make you die in two, three weeks.”

Treatment for HIV/AIDS has been available for decades and allows HIV positive people to live normal lives.

He later tried to double down on his comments, claiming his gay fans don’t have AIDS, and that the backlash was bringing “negative attention”:

Rapper T.I. defended his comments, saying if Lil Nass could “kick his shit in peace…so should DaBaby.”

Dua Lipa, who last year teamed up with DaBaby for the wildly successful ‘Levitating’ remix, released a statement on Instagram saying she was “surprised and horrified” by the comments, and stands “100 percent with the LGBTQ community.

“We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”

Reactions are mixed that she should even have to apologise or respond to what he’s said.

In the meantime, there are suggestions of who could replace DaBaby’s ‘Levitating’ verse.
