Streaming service Stan has announced that Drag Race Down Under will be coming back for a second season in 2022.

The first season aired in the first half of this year, with New Zealand’s Kita Mean being crowned the winner over Melbourne queens Art Simone and Karen from Finance. It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for the season — with criticism over the production and editing and the handling of Scarlet Adams’ history of blackface.

Hopefully, the second season (which should experience less COVID-related interruptions) will be smoother — and it’s another great opportunity to showcase Australian and New Zealand drag. The second season is about to head into production now, with celebrity guests and judges to be revealed soon. Casting is now open — so if you’re up for entering, head right over here.

“I am thrilled to produce and host a brand new season of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under,” said host RuPaul. “We’ve only just begun to shine a worldwide spotlight on the charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent of Australasian queens.”

“Aussie fans loved the Stan Original Series RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under and demanded a second season,” said Cailah Scobie, Stan’s chief content officer. “As the most awarded reality competition show in TV history, the decision was an easy one, and we can’t wait to see the incredible talent that the show will unveil after the high bar set by season one.”
