Looks Like The First Acts For Download Festival Australia Just Leaked
The cat is out of the bag.
Official details about the inaugural Australian Download Festival are still pretty thin on the ground, but it looks as if two of the headliners have just been outed.
In a new interview with NME, Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland let slip that his band will be touring Australia in March alongside Californian nu metal outfit Korn.
The slip came when Borland was quizzed about his band’s next moves, answering: “I think Bizkit and Korn are doing Australia in March, and we’ll be doing a bunch of summer stuff.”
He doesn’t give any additional info about the shows — so it could just be a massive coincidence that they’re in the country at the same time — but it’s mighty suspicious all the same.
Download promoter Andy Copping confirmed to IQ yesterday that we will be seeing the metal festival juggernaut in Melbourne next year. It’s being backed by touring giants Live Nation, UNIFIED, and Secret Sounds (the folks behind Splendour in the Grass and Falls Festival.)
A Download Australia website briefly went live last Friday, displaying a single image (which strangely misspelled ‘Melbourne’):
Since it’s inception at UK’s Donington Park 2003, Download has grown to become of the premier metal events on the planet, boasting acts such as Black Sabbath, Saxon, Slipknot, Metallica, AC/DC and KISS. The festival has undergone a significant expansion in recent years, and now holds events in France and Spain.
