"If they wanted Harry styles to appear good at acting they shouldn’t have cast him in scenes with Florence Pugh I fear."

The world has remembered that international superstar Harry Styles is not, in fact, a triple threat, after the first snippets of Don’t Worry Darling landed on the internet.

It all started when an exclusive clip was posted last Thursday showing a heated exchange between the main protagonists in The Stepford Wives-esque movie. “Not everybody gets this opportunity,” said Styles in a presumably serious conversation. “And if you keep talkin’ like this, you’re gonna put it all at risk.”

Amid the hullabaloo surrounding the new film, fans have latched onto Styles’ monotony and questionable accent while playing workaholic husband and female pleasure connoisseur, Jack Chambers.

Rumours have been running wild during the press tour for the film after actor Florence Pugh was notably absent from cast appearances, which circulated talk about all the drama that took place behind the scenes — including why Shia LaBeouf left the project, and director Olivia Wilde’s distracting and burgeoning relationship with Styles on set that reportedly led to a clash between herself and Pugh.

Now, don’t get us wrong, we know the man is still in his baby days of acting, having only One Direction music videos, an iCarly cameo, and a mostly silent role in 2017 war film Dunkirk on his IMDb.

Pugh, on the other hand, is a multi-award-winning actor, with accolades from the Cannes Film Festival and multiple international critics societies, as well as nominations from the Academy Awards and British Academy Film Awards under her belt as well.

In an interview with Variety, Wilde praised Pugh for being “a great supporter of [Styles] as someone who was newer to a film set”.

Hopefully, Styles’ acting skills took a turn for the better during filming for upcoming rom-drama My Policeman, where Styles plays leading man yet again.

Don’t Worry Darling will be released in Australian cinemas on October 6, 2022. In the meantime, catch the trailer below.
