The internet have decided to stan Dakota Johnson after she shut down Ellen Degeneres on her own damn show.

A clip from Dakota Johnson’s most recent Ellen interview has gone viral for the awkward, tense energy between the pair.

The point of contention came from Ellen claiming that Dakota failed to send Ellen an invite to her 30th birthday party. But Dakota shut Ms. Ellen down fast, explaining that she definitely did invite her.

“Ellen, you were invited. Last time I was on the show last year, you gave me a bunch of shit about not inviting you but I didn’t even know you wanted to be invited,” Dakota said.

The conversation got awkward as the pair went back and forth about the invite and whether Ellen even liked Dakota at all. “Of course I like you. You knew I liked you,” Ellen scrambled. “You’ve been on the show many times and don’t I show… like?”

After Dakota told Ellen to ask her producers to confirm an invite did come her way, Ellen remembered. “Oh yeah, I had that thing,” Ellen said after her producers reminded her that she was out of town that weekend.

So, Why Was Ellen Busy That Weekend?

After the clip was uploaded, people started to piece all the information together. Turns out that little “thing” Ellen had out of town looks to be that Dallas Cowboys game with George W. Bush.

The infamous game took place on October 6 in Texas, while Dakota’s 30th birthday bash happened in Malibu that very same weekend. This discovery sent the internet into overdrive, with people claiming that Dakota’s shutdown was made just that much sweeter by the revelation.

After the video and discovery went viral on Twitter, everyone couldn’t stop professing their love for Dakota and making jokes at Ellen expense.

The interview made people begin to question Ellen’s style of interviewing. Calling the talkshow host “confrontational” and “fake”, some noted that Ellen isn’t as sweet as she projects herself to be.

Others decided to focus on Dakota – and reminded everyone that Dakota refuses to take any shit from any talk show host, including Jimmy Fallon.
