In heart-soaring news, Cub Sport’s Tim Nelson and Sam ‘Bolan’ Netterfield have tied the knot this weekend after going public with their relationship last year.

The duo — who have known each other for sixteen years and been bandmates since 2009 — began dating two years ago after overcoming their separate issues with their sexualities.

BATS, the Brisbane band’s sophomore album, was written and recorded in this period, and is filled with songs about self-acceptance and freeing one’s self to love.

They announced their engagement last June, and a few months later shot a viral video for triple j about their incredibly sweet story.

While they married on Saturday (with their dogs Evie and Missy featuring heavily), Nelson and Netterfield celebrated on Friday with news that their fans had raised money for Australian LGBTI youth charity Minus18.

Through a crowd-funding campaign, the @cubsportstan Instagram fan page raised $1343 of donations on behalf of the couple.

“This money is going to help young queer Australians feel loved and celebrated for exactly who they are,” Nelson wrote on Instagram. “Thank you so much to @cubsportstan for orchestrating this all the way from Connecticut. Words can’t express how much this means to us.”

You can catch Cub Sport this September supporting Vance Joy on his Australian tour.
