‘Crash Bandicoot 4’ Gives Crash’s Girlfriend A HD Makeover, And Horny Gamers Have Lost It
They try to introduce a female playable character, and this is what happens.
Following the success of the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy remaster, developer Toys For Bob are breathing new life into the decade-dormant platformer series with Crash Bandicoot 4 dropping this October. And with new life comes an HD upgrade to some old characters — including Crash’s ‘girlfriend’ Tawna, who a certain subset of horny gamers are particularly excited to see.
Tawna, who first appeared in the original Crash Bandicoot back in 1996, has been promoted to playable character this time around, transforming her from a damsel-in-distress to a hero in her own right, warped from a different dimension where she’s the one who saves the day. She even has dyed hair now, and a hookshot! That’s feminist representation.
And while Tawna has always been pretty, uh, busty, this new remake has seemingly taken her ‘sex appeal’ to new heights — and, seemingly for the better, gamers couldn’t Tweet out their horny feelings back in 1996. Behold old bombshell Tawna, for reference:
In a blog post announcing Tawna as a playable character, game art director Josh Nadelberg describes her as an “experienced adventurer, a daring, driven, and confident hero”, writing that the team wanted to give her a fleshed-out character as opposed to her first appearance in the game.
“She needed to exude strength and dexterity, so we looked towards powerful athletic bodies as inspiration for her physique. She is a lone wolf who likes to think that she doesn’t need anyone’s help, and we wanted that to come across in all aspects of her look, from her outfit to her range of expressions.”
Naturally, some are pretty excited by Tawna’s new furry-feminist-‘tude, and her apparent ‘thiccness’. Here are some of the (more PG) horny reactions on Twitter, which seem to kind of miss the point.

There are always contrarians, of course, who think Tawna actually isn’t “that thicc”. The Bandicoot fan base is forever divided.
Am I crazy to think that Tawna from Crash Bandicoot isn't thicc? Like she's curvy to me, but not thicc. pic.twitter.com/tiqRDaKM02
