In what professional pundits call a ‘game changer’, drag queen and reality tv queen Courtney Act will compete to represent Australia at next year’s Eurovision contest.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race alum, Celebrity Big Brother UK winner and host of LGBTIQ+ dating show ‘The Bi Life’ is one of three new contenders at ‘Eurovision – Australia Decides’, a Battle Royale-style singing competition this February 9 on the Gold Coast.

She’ll be singing her new song ‘Fight For Love’ against the previously announced acts Kate Miller-Heidke, Sheppard, Mark Vincent and (our favourite) Electric Fields.

But that’s not all. 17-year-old Aydan Calafiore, who came fourth on this year’s The Voice Australia, will also compete, as will 16-year-old Leea Nanos, a wildcard entry who earned her spot with a reportedly very good entry. A final round of acts will be announced before February.

As Israel won this year’s Eurovision contest, next year’s competition will be held in either Jerusalem or Tel Aviv. As part of the Boycott, Divest and Sanction movement, more than 100 artists from across the world have petitioned Eurovision Song Contest to move the awards to another country.
