RIP Cosmo: Iconic Magazine “Cosmopolitan” Is Shutting Down For Good
RIP Cosmo. Where will we all learn to orgasm now?
Well, the December issue of Cosmo Australia will be its last, and people are pretty bummed out about it.
Magazine publisher Bauer Media announced today that Cosmopolitan Australia will come to an end in just two months’ time, saying that “it has not been an easy decision to make, however, the commercial viability of the magazine in Australia is no longer sustainable.”
Given that Cosmo bills itself as “the biggest selling magazine in the world”, that’s a grim sign for the future of print magazines down under. It’s not yet clear how many of the magazine’s staff will be affected.
Last month it was 13 roles axed across Elle and Harper's Bazaar and today Bauer have announced they're folding Cosmo after 45 years. A very sad time for everyone who has put their blood, sweat and tears into keeping print alive in this country.

“We are incredibly proud of the brand and the people who have been involved and represented over the last 45 years,” Bauer Media Australia & New Zealand CEO Paul Dykzeul said. “It has helped to launch the careers of media personalities, supported great brands and causes, and inspired millions of young women across the country”.
Wow. Truly the end of an era/ Bauer set to announce the closure of Cosmo today. Feeling for everyone who is there currently. #alwaysacosmogirl

Fans of Cosmo have taken to social media to express sadness over the magazine’s end. It was a wonderful asset for many a horny teen, and it’ll be sorely missed.
Thank you to Cosmopolitan magazine for letting me sneak glimpses at teen heartthrobs who made me feel things that I didn't fully understand
