This Clip Of Cate Blanchett Lip-Syncing ‘You Don’t Own Me’ At A Drag Show Is Beautiful Art

There’s nothing I can say that will do this justice, so you should probably just watch it:

The above footage comes courtesy of someone in the crowd at the iconic Stonewall Inn this week, where actor, dreamboat, and honourary President of Australia Cate Blanchett took part in a benefit drag show.

The performance was in support of the Newtown Action Alliance — an anti-gun violence group that lobbies both the government and industry for stricter gun control — and featured the Oscar-winner owning the stage in full burlesque get-up alongside Miss Gay of USofA Aurora Sexton, trans actvist Candis Cox, drag star Brenda Dharling and more.

While Dusty Springfield’s cover of ‘You Don’t Own Me’ seemed to be the hit of the night, Blanchett also appeared on stage in a pussy hat as singer Margeaux Powell belted out Adele’s ‘Hello’.
