Hundreds of thousands of people across the country have walked out of work, skipped school and left home to participate in the global climate strike to demand action on climate change. And boy oh boy, did they turn out.

In big cities and small towns from Melbourne to Alice Springs, people have packed into parks and marched down malls. And they’ll be followed by millions of people across the world in the next 24 hours.

The figurehead of the climate strike movement, Swedish teen Greta Thunberg has tweeted her praise of the Aussie turnout.

Especially heartening is the number of kids who have turned out to demand that the boomers in charge get out of the way so that the rest of us can actually try to get something done and save the planet.

We’ve collected some of the best and funniest signs from across the Australian rallies for your viewing pleasure.
