If you’re finding it hard to understand the hype about those royal people touring Australia at the moment, you’re not alone — this child was so unfazed by the meaningless concept of royalty that he actually just skipped the whole pleasantries thing and grabbed Prince Harry by the beard.

He saw what he wanted and he went for it, courtesy and respect be damned. Much like the British did with Australia in 1788, come to think of it, except with fewer horrific and far-reaching consequences. Why are we excited that the royals are here again?

The five-year-old met the royals on their tour of Dubbo this morning, along with a long line of other school children. In addition to grabbing Prince Harry by the facial hair, the kid also went in for a big hug with both Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which was incredibly sweet and also a bold refusal to acknowledge the supposed importance of royalty.

It was a power move, to be honest, much like that of a koala which yesterday responded to the royal touch by looking incredibly, comically unimpressed. Behold, total indifference in action:

This koala was really not impressed by Prince Harry or Meghan Markle.

Tfw you’re just not that into colonialism.

Anyway, if it would improve your day to see sweet footage of a lovely kid pulling Prince Harry’s beard, you can catch the whole clip below. And if you’d rather make like the koala, don’t worry — this is the last time you’ll hear about the royals from Junkee this week.
