Sometime during the 1980s, a nuclear reactor in the Soviet Ukraine absolutely biffed itself, and just horribly asploded. That reactors name… was Chernobyl.

It was a huge disaster, famed throughout history as being bad and no good!

Now, those incessant drama lovers at HBO have turned that big meltdown into a five-part historical drama television miniseries, which features an ensemble cast led by Jared Harris, Stellan Skarsgård, Emily Watson, and Paul Ritter.

It’s, no joke, compelling and devastating viewing, that is remarkably relevant in 2019 (especially as we watch selfish bitches in power basically explode the entire world).

However, while the critics have been almost unanimously in effusive praise of Chernobyl, there is one little detail which people keep getting stuck on.

Namely the fact that everyone working in the Ukrainian nuclear reactor have CRISP and POLISHED British accents for some reason.

To be fair, at least we didn’t get a whole bunch of Americans doing terrible Russian accents. I mean — you could just cast some Russians/ Ukrainians, but what would I know, I’m not a Hollywood big-wig.

You can currently watch Chernobyl on Foxtel Now.
