We’re Pleased To Inform You That Britney Spears Is Our New Socialist Icon

The coronavirus crisis has Spears calling for wealth redistribution and strikes - so welcome to the revolution.

Most celebrities have not been taking the coronavirus epidemic well.

Gal Gadot sang a song about imagining no possessions with the help of her obscenely wealthy friends. Madonna lay in a bath of rose petals and called the disease the “great equaliser.” Sam Smith and Ellen Degeneres both distributed photos of themselves looking sad and bored in their giant mansions.

The trend, then, has been for the rich and famous to pretend they’ve got it hard, or to offer token gestures in the middle of a pandemic that will hurt the poor, the at-risk and the vulnerable before it’ll hurt an actress like Gadot.

But that’s a trend that Britney Spears is bucking.

See, yesterday, in an Instagram post captioned “communion goes beyond walls”, Spears called for a redistribution of wealth, the only thing that the rich and powerful should be calling for, to be honest.

“We will feed each other, re-distribute wealth, strike,” the post reads. “We can still be together.”

Listen, we should always avoid idolising celebrities. They are people — rich, lucky, entitled people. They don’t share our concerns or worries, least alone in the middle of a global coronavirus pandemic.

But let’s all make an exception to that rule for Britney Spears, our socialist queen.
