The crossover we didn't know we needed.

When is the 75-year-old Scottish actor Brian Cox going to make an appearance on Euphoria? That’s what I want to know. And I’m pretty sure it’s what we all want to know.

Well, while Cox has not yet officially joined the cast of the acclaimed teen drama, he has at least starred in a mash-up that will lift your spirits in the meantime.

Cox acted as a stand-in for Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) in Euphoria’s dramatic bathroom scene from the show’s second season, and look: it’s fair to scene I’ll be watching this scene on repeat until either Succession or Euphoria is safely back in our lives.

There’s just so much to unpack here. The little tie at the bottom of Brian’s button-down in tribute to Sydney Sweeney’s outfit in the original scene. The oddly satisfying experience of hearing Maddy (Alexa Demie) say “bitch, you better be joking” to none other than Brian Cox. And the classic Logan Roy energy that she gets back: “Don’t fucking give me that look, Maddy!”

We then hear Zendaya’s narrator chime in. “But she didn’t say that. It was much weirder,” at which point we see Logan Roy declaring: “Don’t fuck with me Maddy. I’m one crazy-ass bitch,” followed by the most intimidating apple-eating scene I’ve ever seen.

The clip premiered this week on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and like a lot of things lately, it’s unclear why it happened.

But both Succession and Euphoria, produced by HBO, are in-between seasons, so it’s possible the network is trying to give fans a little somethin’ somethin’ in the meantime. The fourth season of Succession will reportedly arrive in late 2022 to early 2023, with the third season of Euphoria not expected until 2024.
