Spotify Has Revealed Your Favourite Break-Up Songs, So Get Ready To Cry In The Shower
TIME TO CRY!
We all have a different method for dealing with a break-up (some of us go the ice cream on the couch route, while others go the get-so-drunk-wake-up-when-you’re-over-it route), but there’s one thing that binds us all together in our pain: sad as shit songs.
Streaming giant Spotify have now crunched the numbers to come up with the most popular break-up songs in playlists across Australia, and yeah look…it’s pretty bloody depressing.
Australians are a pretty morose bunch: all up, we’ve made nearly 11,000 break-up playlists on Spotify, with the most popular genres on those list being pop, dance-pop, and R&B.
Sam Hunt’s ‘Break Up In A Small Town’ features most prominently in all of our break-up playlists, with Adele’s criminally depressing ‘Someone Like You’ is the second most popular. Gotye is the highest Aussie act in the ranking, with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ landing at #7.
But we’re not all sad sacks: a fair whack of the Top 30 are Fuck You tracks, such as Kelly Clarksons’ ‘Since U Been Gone’ (#5), Destiny’s Child’s ‘Survivor’ (#17), and Taylor Swift’s ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ (#19). And yes, Cee Lo Green’s ‘Fuck You’ comes in at #22.
Check out the full list below, and make a mental note to listen to them next time someone dumps your arse.
