Bob Katter, the renegade federal MP for Kennedy, has released a new election ad portraying himself as a gun-wielding, nationalistic cowboy who literally shoots representatives of Labor and the Coalition to death.

The ad opens with two men, dressed to represent Labor and the Coalition, wearing what appear to be stockings on their head, putting up a sign declaring “Australia For Sale”.

After taking down the sign Katter is foiled when the two criminal major parties re-appear to… put it back up. Undeterred, Katter grabs a permanent marker and cleverly graffitis on the sign so it now reads “Australia NOT For Sale”.

Good stuff, right? Katter makes his point using some hectic banjos and nice imagery. He doesn’t want Australian land to be sold off.

But the ad doesn’t stop there. In fact, it takes a seriously dark and twisted turn. In the next scene Katter holds a smoking gun before breaking out into a wide grin. The camera pans overhead revealing the bodies of the Labor and Coalition representatives, a scene clearly designed to demonstrate Bob Katter’s willingness to murder his political opponents.

Some might say that releasing an ad involving guns and murder just two days after the Orlando tragedy is a bit… tasteless. But not Katter, who declared it the “Most wicked election ad of 2016”.

It’s not the only weird election ad released today. Liberal Treasurer Scott Morrison just released their new video highlighting the apparent dangers of a Labor/Greens alliance, but it looks more like a fan-made trailer for The Matrix circa 1999.

It’s been a incredibly strange election so far, but I think we can safely say Bob Katter murdering the major parties, two days after the Orlando attack, is the most bizarre thing yet.
