Homegrown Hero Bluey The Dog Is Heading To Disney+, So That Means She’s A Disney Princess Now
Bluey is blowing up big time.
Forget Kylie Minogue and Margot Robbie — the last few years have been dominated by one Australian creative export and one Australian creative export alone. Her name is Bluey, and she’s an animated dog.
First premiering on ABC Kids back in 2018, Bluey is a singularly heartwarming comedy following the exploits of its titular dog, an “inexhaustible” six-year-old with an unrivalled passion for life and fun.

Unlike a raft of other contemporary children’s shows that desperately strain for adult humour, and cynical nods at the parents watching, Bluey is defined by its simple sense of humour and joy. It’s entertaining in the way that the films of Hayao Miyazaki are entertaining, and it never sacrifices plot or character for an easy joke.
Little wonder then that the show has been heralded by both Aussies and families overseas. It’s become one of ABC Kids’ biggest hits in years, quickly earning its spot as the most rewatched program in ABC iView history. And it’s been adored by the critics too, who have honoured the show with a raft of Emmy and AACTA awards.
But now, things have ramped up another level: Bluey is going international.
Yep, from January 22 onwards, every episode of Bluey will be hitting the immensely popular US streaming service Disney+. It’ll be available on that platform the world over, meaning that Americans finally get stuck into the cult of our heroic young pupper.
Bluey is joining Baby Yoda on @DisneyPlus around the world on January 22 💙 Love you to share with your US friends and family. Thanks so much for all your support on here. You know what that means? Bluey’s an official Disney princess now.
Sure seems like 2020 is going to be her year.
