Billie Eilish Has Spent Quarantine Bingeing ‘The Office’ For The 15th Time
Truly the artist of her generation.
Shakespeare may have written King Lear during a pandemic, but we’d much rather be like Billie Eilish, who hopped on an Instagram live with The Office‘s Rainn Wilson to say she’s just watched the sitcom for the 15th time.
We’re all well aware of Eilish’s love of The Office: it’s been a talking point in interviews for years, and that was before she sampled one of the show’s standout episodes on her debut album’s track ‘my strange addiction’. But when the 18-year-old jumped on Instagram with Wilson, the actor told her that maybe there should be a limit to her love.
“I just finished watching The Office for a 15th time two days ago,” she told him. “Every time I hit that episode that says finale, I’m always like, ‘Goddamn-it!'”
“William, it’s time to move on!”, Wilson said, using one of Eilish’s nicknames, William Eyelash (it’s not worth explaining). “It’s time to move on to another show, really. Please!”
Wilson, who played Dwight on The Office, interviewed Eilish for the latest episode of his company SoulPancake’s Hey There, Human — a series about how creatives are doing during the pandemic.
Recently, Eilish made news after telling Zane Lowe she had written and recorded “an entire song” during the quarantine. She was referencing recording and writing a song in one studio session, rather than working on it across a long period of time as is usual for her and her brother/producer Finneas, but a Complex Magazine tweet omitted the context, creating a lot of jokes on Twitter.
As Billboard points out, last year Eilish said she’d watched the show 12 times, which means she’s watched The Office’s nine seasons three times in the past years. That’s about twelve days of non-stop The Office, all while touring one of 2019’s biggest albums.
Listen to her most recent release ‘No Time To Die’, the theme song of the upcoming (and delayed) James Bond film, below.
