Big Mouth Has Finally Got The Drag Treatment That It Always Deserved
Say it with me: Bubble bath.
J.R.R. Tolkien’s favourite phrase in the English language was “cellar door”. David Foster Wallace’s was “abide”. But both of those dudes can fuck the hell off, because everybody knows that the most delicious sequence of sounds a human being is capable of uttering is “bubble bath”, particularly if the human in question is Maya Rudolph.
Yes, Big Mouth, Nick Kroll’s excellent animated comedy about the spotty pains of teenagehood, gave us many pleasures, but perhaps none quite as distinct as Maya Rudolph’s performance as Connie the Hormone Monstress. Forget ASMR: all you need to be sent into shivering peals of delight is Rudolph rolling the words “bubble” and “bath” around her mouth as though they were marbles.
See, how much more relaxed do you feel right now?
“Bubble bath” has already been given the remix treatment, with the excellently monikered ‘Dizzy Rambuctious’ transforming the song into an unashamedly dirty club banger.
Now, in what I hope becomes the natural progression for all memes, the Big Mouth catchphrase has been incorporated into one helluva drag routine.
let’s just relax and take ourselves a nice, hot bubble bath 🧼🛁 pic.twitter.com/XAO6kaG6iH

That’s Miami’s Miss Toto donning Connie’s immediately recognisable furry hide, and doing an absolutely stellar job turning one of the most delectable phrases of all-time into an equally decadent drag routine.
Miss Toto is something of a legend within the Stateside drag community — standing at over six feet tall, she’s a celebrated bodybuilder and personal trainer, and has a background in marine science. We stan an all-rounder, clearly.

Anyway, it’s been a tough year, full of dullard politicians and waves of bad news. You deserve to treat yourself, and by treat yourself I mean sit here for the next five minutes or so, watching Miss Toto’s Big Mouth routine on repeat, and taking a quiet moment before 2019 comes bursting into your life like a steamroller.
I just stopped myself mid-cry by listening to that Big Mouth clip of Maya Rudolph deliciously saying ‘Bubble Bath’. Therapists, take note.

Go on. You know you want to.
