“We’ve Had An Absolute Blast”: Ben & Liam Are Leaving Triple J Very, Very Soon
And their replacements are Breakfast's first female duo.
Triple j’s Breakfast hosts Ben and Liam have announced they’re leaving their slot after three years, moving back to Adelaide airwaves next year.
In the announce, Ben & Liam say they’ve had “an absolute blast at triple j”.
“Never in our wildest dreams did we think two dweebs doing community radio in Adelaide would get a crack at a gig like this,” they write. “Thanks for waking up with us, listening to our shit talk and sharing your stories, we’ll be forever grateful.” The duo will finish up on November 1, which yep, is next week. They’ll take a break before moving onto Nova Adelaide in January, as confirmed by Sydney Morning Herald.
Triple J has announced their replacements, Sally Coleman and Erica Mallett, who might be better known as hip-hop duo Coda Conduct. You might’ve heard them on the js filling in across a couple of shows before taking over Weekend Arvos last year. They’ll be in charge of Breakfast from 2020, with fellow FBi Radio alum Lucy Smith filling in for the rest of 2019. Sally & Erica are Breakfast’s first female duo.
Ben & Liam have had a somewhat turbulent time at triple j: when they started out in 2017, comparisons to ex-Breakfast hosts Alex & Matt became abusive, with the hosts taking the time out to address the “relentless” criticism they faced. We hope audiences are kinder to Sally & Erica.
