Your new record that’s set to be released in October is called ‘Bag or Die.’ What’s the last thing you want someone to feel once they’ve listened to it for the first time?

I’ve been told my music is really good to walk to so I want people to get up and do something. I feel like it genuinely is really upbeat music. It’s super happy, it’s super fun. So just go for a walk and go get some exercise because everyone’s depressed these days.

What was the first song you ever wrote?

It was called ‘Zebra Stripes’ and I remember specifically laughing because I was super faded and we were using auto tune. It was over a Chief Keef type beat, that’s kind of all I remember and that was the moment where I was like, I want to do this for the rest of my life because it was so much fun and it gave me so much joy.

I just remember that euphoric feeling, I was like “whoa this is sick.” I’m having a good time with my friends and ever since that I’ve just been kind of been continuing through that inspiration.

What’s the last thing written in your phone notes?

Occasionally if I’m super hungover or exhausted on a plane, I’ll be writing lyrics because I feel like when I’m emotionally altered that’s when I write the best anything. I don’t know why though, I wish there was like a better reasoning behind that.

What did you buy with your first paycheque?

My first biggest purchase was a pair of vans, I remember being like, “I’m spending $70 guys!”

$70 was a big one for me and I remember buying the high top white vans and I was like, “yeah, I’m cool now.” I just remember that being a pivotal moment in my life.

What was the first album you ever owned?

I got into music when I was 14 pretty much. Not making music, but I started listening to music then because I was homeschooled so I never really was exposed to kids in class be like, “yo, listen to this song man.”

My brother put me on to house music when I was 14 and then I traversed into rap music. I started in rap music at Gucci Mane and then I went to Chief Keef and then I did Biggie, Tupac.

I found love and joy through rap music. But I didn’t start there at all, it was house music and then I went into dirty, real dubstep house and drum and bass. And then I went into rap music.

That’s my goal actually, I just saw this artist, his name is Bru-C and I’m so inspired. So I’m going to make a full rave album. I’m going to do it right after I do my ballad project, because why not?

I’m at the point of my musical career where I can just do whatever the hell I want. I don’t care, like I made it. I made money, my parents are proud so now it’s just like, fuck around as hard as I can.

What’s the first red flag you look for?

If you look for red flags, you’re probably going to find red flags. You can’t be a hundred percent compatible, that’s just not the way of the world, right?

I don’t really look for red flags. I will say though, sometimes people just talk too much. People speak a lot to me and it’s just like, we don’t need to talk. That’s when you know you met someone is when you’re just hanging and holding hands and you’re just having a good time and you’re not really like talking. That’s when you know.

Bbno$’s new record ‘Bag Or Die’ is out Friday 21 October.
