This Sketch Captures Just How Excruciating An Awkward Band Interview Can Be

It’s understandable that some artists refuse to take part in interviews — when they’re good, of course, they can offer a unique and personal insight into an artist’s work, but when they’re bad, they’re atrocious.
Just think about the time Maggie Rogers was bizarrely questioned on what Pharrell Williams smells like while on The Project last year, or how Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls had to withstand constant shitty jokes and banter while looking incredibly uncomfortable (another The Project special), or Troye Sivan being immaturely questioned about sex (also…The Project), or how Karl Stefanovic tried to pull off some chat with The Chats about their haircuts, only to look like the most awkward dad in history.
A lot of the time, artist interviews — particularly TV interviews — can just be downright excruciating, as uncomfortable for the audience as they are for the artist. A new sketch from TikTok user @omfgrant skewers this discomfort, as he plays the part of the shitty interview peppering a good-natured artist about useless ‘fun’ topics like porn names and dick size.
“What’s up it’s Ryan Mars here, today I’m joined by Jax Baradog from All Time The Veil With Sirens,” the interviewer opens. “So Jax tell me, what would your porn star name be?”
