I will call him "Baby Yoda' until the day I die.

In the latest episode of The Mandalorian, ‘The Jedi’, there were some major reveals for fans — including a beloved Clone Wars character’s live-action debut, and of course, the revelation of Baby Yoda’s real name.

~Spoilers for The Mandalorian ahead~

The Child’s real name was revealed to be Grogu. It’s worth noting this reveal didn’t happen because of just ANYONE, but in a scene where Grogu is communicating via the force with Clone Wars fan favourite, Ahsoka Tano. When Ahsoka reveals to Mando the Child’s name is Grogu, after their little force-time chat, peak cuteness ensues.

While many fans find the name as impossibly adorable as its owner, many also found it, shall we say, hilariously underwhelming after almost two seasons of anticipation. Some are even refusing to acknowledge Grogu as the Child’s name.

For what its worth, Mando isn’t convinced at first either, and questions Ahsoka’s confidence that Grogu is the Child’s name. She confirms it is, and it looks like its what Mando will be calling his son by his name from now on. However, the fandom is not so easily swayed.

Not to expose myself as a smidgeon of a Star Wars purist, but I have always waited patiently for the truth of the Child’s identity, considering there is no way the adorable being could just be a literal “Baby Yoda” timeline-wise. Thankfully Ahsoka had SOME answers to that too, revealing Grogu was raised and trained in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant with other Jedi masters, prior to the fall of the Empire.

Guys, this means Grogu probably met Yoda! Baby Yoda was probably trained by Big Yoda at some point.

It’s always hard for highly-anticipated reveals to live up to their name, especially when it comes to Star Wars. Personally, I am still not even sure how I feel about The Rise of Skywalker a year on.

But one thing is for sure: Whether he is Grogu to you or Baby Yoda, he’s the most adorable force user this side of the galaxy. This is the way.
