If you’ve not yet heard, Baby Yoda is our new lord and saviour.

Since his appearance in Disney’s The Mandalorian, Baby Yoda has become the internet’s new favourite thing – and you can see why.

With his tiny, little body, huge-ass ears, and big, bulging eyes, the rat-looking creature is the cutest thing I’ve seen all year.

But in an act of that could only be described as treason, Vulture reported that Disney tried to purge the internet of GIFs of our tiny, green king. In a now-deleted tweet, a Vulture writer claimed that all the GIFs were pulled for “copyright reasons.”

She came to this conclusion because the GIFs of Baby Yoda, or his official name ‘The Child’ if you want to be boring, were suddenly removed from GIPHY.

But GIPHY released a statement about the situation and claimed there was “confusion” and that Disney was not to blame. “We temporarily removed these GIFs while we reviewed the situation… and we are happy to report that the GIFs are once again live,” GIPHY continued.

But the damage had been done. Following the Vulture report placing blame on Disney, the internet reacted as the internet does: With GIFs.

And, of course, by rallying against the take down of Baby Yoda as much as possible.

While Baby Yoda may be back up on GIPHY, let that be a lesson to anyone planning on messing with our almighty green son.
