Heartbreak High breakout star Ayesha Madon isn’t a stranger to red carpets these days, even if it might be her first time walking the ARIAs.

Ever since the ’90s reboot hit series blessed our screens a few months ago, the success of the show has put all the young Australia actors, particularly leading actor Ayesha Madon, on the map.

Yet it’s Madon’s attendance at the ARIAs that serves as a sign that we should also be taking her solo indie-pop music seriously too.

Once we locked eyes with the double-threat on the red carpet last Thursday, a natural ease could be felt by Madon who despite forging a career as an actor always pictured herself as a singer.

Despite her recent success Madon remains firmly grounded, when presented with the feeling of making the crowd starstruck she laughed “oh my god. Don’t be, I was about to eat chicken off the floor.”

She wasn’t the first to say this. Somehow the organisers of the biggest night in Australian music thought that Red Rooster would be the perfect sponsor for the glamorous awards night, which culminated in incredible pap shots like this.

Anyway, back to Ayesha.

When asked how she felt being at her first ARIAs, the singer replied “i’m really excited. I just feel really lucky to be here and to see all these amazing artists.”

The singer put out her first song back in 2020 and has been compared to the likes of Lily Allen and Remi Wolf ever since.

Her latest track ‘Fish & Chips’ is a colourful and fun song about a missing goldfish and climate change, with a fuck you to the government.

“I’ve been songwriting since I was a kid. I actually never intended to be an actor.”

“I always intended to be a songwriter, so I’m just excited to get out more stuff next year,” she told Junkee.

Before you freak out about Heartbreak High season 2, don’t worry because Madon told us acting will always be on the cards.

“I love acting, it’s always been a massive love for me but I love the autonomy that comes with music, so I’m really excited to put out more work.”

It’s been a whirlwind of a year for the star who before Heartbreak High was largely unknown to your average young Australia.

And what a joy it has been to follow Madon and her other extremely attractive cast members on socials, watching their every move as they party and attend industry events together like Melbourne Fashion Week.

When asked about her huge year she said, “you know what, it’s hard to pick a highlight,” Madon told Junkee.

“Having the most amazing friends around me, the most amazing family around me and travelling and Heartbreak High and putting out music, it was all so good.”

On her fit and fashion looks she’s been serving over the last few months, Madon tells us that she gets most of her inspo from her best friend.

“Look to be honest with you i’m a fraud. My best friend is a stylist, her name’s Victoria Knowles and she is kind of the reason why I’m at all this fashion stuff.”

Finally, we tried to get some goss on the highly anticipated second season of Heartbreak High.

“If I knew you would know. I’ve got really loose lips, so if I knew anything you [and] everyone here would know,” Madon laughed.

Sigh. At least we tried.
