Last week, Universal Music announced it would be releasing a posthumous album of Avicii music, titled TIM.

The album will feature 16 tracks that the producer had nearly completed at the time of his death, aged 28, last April. His collaborators came together to complete the record, attempting to get as close to Tim Bergling’s vision as possible.

“We tried to keep it as close what to Tim would’ve loved, or what Tim would’ve done,” said Per Sundan, the president of Universal Music Nordic region. “We’re not trying to create the biggest hits ever made. We’re trying to be as close to what Tim would’ve wanted.”

We’ve now been given the first look at the upcoming album with the release of the first single, ‘SOS’. The track features the vocals of Avicii’s longtime friend Aloe Blacc, who was also the lead on one of Bergling’s biggest tracks, ‘Wake Me Up’.

“I feel like ‘SOS’ was a song that was probably ahead of its time for when he wrote it,” said Aloe Blacc. “He wrote these lyrics obviously about some of his battles and I think it’s a really important topic to approach and to share, especially with his visibility and his access to ears and hearts. To give people the words to be able to say ’I need help.’”

The song is accompanied by a video featuring messages of support and love from his fan. In addition, a seven-minute video outlining the arduous process of piecing together the track has also been released — watch both videos below.

All proceeds from album sales will be donated to the newly created Tim Bergling Foundation, which aims to provide support for individuals and organisations in mental health and suicide prevention.
