Thanos demands your silence, and so does everyone who hasn’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet.

Avengers: Endgame is a highly anticipated film, the culmination of over a decade of incredibly popular Marvel movies. The film is expected to shape the rest of the MCU going forward, and reveal the fates of many beloved characters.

It has been out for a few days now, but not everybody has had the opportunity to watch it yet. Those still in the dark have been ducking and weaving to avoid any information about Avengers: Endgame, blocking their ears and humming until they can make it to a screening. It’s a battle that grows more difficult with each passing day as more people see it.

Unfortunately for some cinemagoers in Hong Kong, the fight was lost at the eleventh hour, right at the cinema doors.

Asia One reports that a man was allegedly beaten up outside a cinema in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, for spoiling Avengers: Endgame. The man appeared to have just exited the film himself when he began loudly sharing spoilers at the cinema’s entrance, drawing the ire of cinema patrons standing in line to see it.

Incensed by the man’s apparent disregard for others, some fans reportedly took it upon themselves to confront him in a physical altercation. An image circulating online shows a man in a white shirt sitting on the ground, apparently the self-appointed spoiler crier, while another man in red tends to an injury on his head.

The exact details of the incident are still fuzzy, so it’s unclear whether the man was enthusiastically but thoughtlessly discussing the film with a friend, or if he was deliberately and maliciously out to ruin other peoples’ experience. Online response has been mixed, some condemning the use of violence while others feel that he deserved it.

In any case, there are lessons to be learned on all sides here. Don’t beat people up for spoiling a film, and don’t be the jerk who spoils it.

Be mindful of your fellow Marvel fans, and keep your Avengers: Endgame thoughts to yourself. If you must discuss it, do it in private with a consenting companion, where you can both be as enthusiastic and loud as you want.
