Friends, popular musician Flume was filmed eating ass on stage at Burning Man, and nothing will ever be the same again.

What a perfect confluence of events, what an astrological anomaly, what a ridiculous butt-munching extravaganza.

The rimjob that was watched around the world.

I would go so far to say that it HAD to be Flume, and it HAD to be ass, and it was only very funny because it was Burning Man, the world’s worst festival. If it had been some grungy old rocker at Lollapalooza, everybody would have just been grossed out. If it had been Katy Perry at Coachella, everybody would have immediately realised it was a marketing ploy.

But because it was Flume, handsome, faceless, Flume, surrounded by heaving masses of unwashed neo-hippies in the middle of a blighted desert, absolutely going to hell on some consenting lady’s b-hole, that made it beautiful.

That made it a pop culture event. One day our children will be asking us where we were when Flume first ate ass on stage.

So, while ass-eating, rimming, and analingus is on everyone’s mind, let’s look at some of the most iconic ass-eating events in pop culture history.

Let’s dive in.

1. Mozart???

The original bad-boy of classical music, Mozart, wrote a song about eating ass.

Titled “Leck mich im Arsch,” it literally translates to “Lick me in the ass” and basically is just about licking Mozart’s ass. Apparently the music is by lesser-known Czech composer Wenzel Trnka von Krzowitz, but lyrics by Mozart.

“Lick my ass nicely / lick it nice and clean/ Come on, just try it / And lick, lick, lick!”

2. Miranda In Sex And The City

In a particularly legendary episode of Sex And The City, ass-eating basically just… happens to Miranda.

In season four, episode six ‘Baby, Talk Is Cheap’, Miranda takes home her jogging partner, and then is unceremoniously introduced to the world of rimming. In classic Sex and the City style, she then brings the experience to brunch to discuss, where the rest of the gang pretty much all laugh at her.

The arc basically ends up with her being unable to bring herself to reciprocate the act on her partner. Cool.

3. Those Wacky Queers On Queer As Folk

Queer As Folk was a groundbreaking show from the UK that made several early leaps and bounds for queer representation on screen, especially around the depiction of male/male sex on screen.

It’s particularly iconic for the time, as most gay men on screen were very much served up for comic effect, and a whole, very explicit analingus scene was pretty controversial. And let’s get this straight — queer men invented ass eating, and everything else is appropriation!

Weirdly, Netflix has edited this particular scene out, but not several other graphic scenes of a similar, less-munching nature.

4. Nicki Minaj Needs Directions

We cannot help but stan Nicki Minaj, and her fervent ambassadorial lyrics in favour of eating a butt.

“Somebody point me to the best ass-eater,” she famously says, in the song ‘Dance (A$$)’ by Big Sean. Or in her own song, ‘Anaconda’ she sings the iconic lyrics “toss my salad like his name Romaine.”

Cool.

5. Looking For Jonathan Groff’s Squeaky Clean Butt

HBO’s gay drama Looking brought us the joy of watching the handsome Mindhunter himself, Jonathan Groff, get a nice butt-rimming, which he thoroughly enjoys.

It’s a pretty sweet example of someone experiencing a rimming for the first time.

It’s also particularly noteworthy because it’s one of the only representations of analingus on TV which references and showcases some of the actual preparation that happens around the event. Clean that b-hole, Jonathan.

6. Marnie In Girls

Remember how much Girls dominated the cultural discussion? Well, it did!

A bunch of that discussion was around the frank, and body positive depictions of sex — which were always from the female perspective, which we didn’t see a bunch of. And it was BIG news when in season four, episode one,  one of the titular girls Marnie gets her ass eaten by her hot boyfriend, Desi.

It was criticised for being extremely graphic, but also praised for showing her seemingly genuinely enjoying the whole experience.

7. How To Get Away With Eating An Ass On Prime Time TV

The debut episode of Shonda Rhime’s big budget legal procedural How To Get Away With Murder beamed a particularly choice, and rather hot, male on male analingus scene.

The fact that they introduce ass-eating before they even introduce us to the nitty-gritty of the murder did a lot to set the tone for the show, and was also a big step for representation of homosexuality on American network TV (in the sense that almost nobody ever does it).
